Mar. 31st, 2020 10:35 amThe nice thing about having a boyfriend is that David no longer has to go to bars or sign up for apps trying to find someone. There are a lot of nice things, really, but when David finds himself coming out of a bar after meeting with a potential supplier for the store who had then proceeded to aggressively hit on him, suggesting he come back to her apartment to sample some of her candles while she tested her massage oil on him, that particular benefit is really standing out for him.
He's still actively and physically shaking off the encounter, giving his shoulders a repulsed little shiver, as he walks out of the bar and back into the still bright evening. He doesn't mean to not be paying attention to where he's going, it's just that he's really wrapped up in something that has just felt extremely violating and so he's sort of looking inward.
Which, he realizes, is a bad idea on a public sidewalk.
It's too late to course correct and so David puts his hands up without thinking, both of them landing on the woman's shoulders -- thank god for that -- and then he jumps back, as if he's been burned by her coat. It figures he would accidentally manhandle someone just after being practically manhandled himself.
"Sorry," he blurts out, then stares at the woman. "Wait, I know you, don't I?"
